Environmental Policy
At Beclau, we believe we are at the forefront of sustainable production methods for furniture and timber joinery. We can offer a specialised service combining high quality production that meets environmental, health and Green Building Council standards. We have reviewed our practices beyond the choice of timbers, to ensure every component in our production complies with high environmental standards. This extends to our adhesives, finishes and packaging. Most importantly, we believe in creating a well-made product that will last forever.
Our key advantages are:
We are FSC Chain of Custody certified
GECA certification for core product range
We use E0 mdf for raw board and pre-veneered sheets, or, Eco-core where possible
We import our own FSC certified timbers, not available elsewhere in Australia
We import our own water-based 2 pack polyurethane which is more environmentally-friendly
than the standard solvent based polyurethanes and lacquers
Where possible we use an oil based finish that is less harmful to the environment
We have developed methods of manufacturing furniture that can be completely
disassembled
Our staff hold an MSc in Sustainable Design and another in Chemistry, meaning
we have researched our products and chosen those with the best credentials
We have experience advising architects, designers and builders in the field
of ecologically sustainable design (ESD) and are fully conversant with Green
Star requirements. Residential customers will also feel comfortable knowing
their products are made according to ecological principles and that they contribute
to a healthy indoor environment quality. We would be happy to discuss any
questions you have regarding environmental
concerns and how Beclau can help you meet Green
Star requirements.
