Yuko Yoshida and Michiel Romme have been working together since 1986 in the
design of furniture and interiors. Emerging from their respective eastern
and western backgrounds, they share a passionate love for the perfectly executed
design. A constructive dialogue is established and retained with their clientele
until a mutual agreement is reached. The situation defines the approach: systematic
or purely intuitive.
Yoshida & Romme offer a wide spectrum of possibilities, whereby a subjective
use of pigments and wood sorts eloquently compliments the application of the
Fibonacci sequence to, among other things, the juxtaposition of the objects.
This sequence, which is based on natural structure, is diversely applied throughout
history in architecture, typography and art, exemplifying mankind's role as
a prominent mediator between culture and nature.
Yoshida & Romme have embraced this approach in these times where the individual
is constantly at odds with the environment.
